As the weather gets warmer, we want to remind families about the importance of dressing children appropriately for school and helping them stay hydrated throughout the day.
Please send your child to school in lightweight, comfortable clothing and shoes that are safe for recess and outdoor activities. During hotter temperatures, students may become overheated more quickly if they are wearing heavy layers or inappropriate footwear.
We also encourage all students to bring a refillable water bottle to school each day. Drinking plenty of water helps prevent dehydration, headaches, dizziness, fatigue, and heat-related illness. We remind students to drink water regularly, especially after recess and physical activity. Gatorade may be consumed during lunchtime, but not in the classroom.
Some signs of dehydration in children may include:
· Headache
· Dry lips or mouth
· Dizziness
· Fatigue
· Stomachache
· Dark-colored urine
Helping children start the day hydrated and prepared for warm weather makes a big difference in their comfort, health, and ability to learn.
Thank you for your support in keeping our students healthy and safe!
Sincerely,
Nurse Dalton
