Weekly Message from the Principal

Dear Terrell Elementary Families,
Thank you for all your hard work ensuring our Koalas are arriving to school on time each morning. We are seeing a stark decrease in tardies each day. We know this will have a positive impact on our students' learning and progress this year!

Thank you to those who were able to come and enjoy our family fun night hosted by PTA last week, we enjoyed having fun with you and your students! Our generous PTA is able to provide these wonderful opportunities for our school based on your support of our fundraisers throughout the year! We have another spirit night coming up tomorrow, at ChickFilA, please come and join us!

We will celebrate LamarCISD this week and all our recent accolades with Texas Takeover week! See details below. We look forward to seeing our fourth graders perform at our Veteran's Day performances on Tuesday!

Warmly,
Brittany D. Carpenter
Principal, Terrell Elementary

📅 Our next PTA Membership Meeting will be held virtually on:
Thursday, November 13 · 6:05 – 7:05 PM (Central Time)

Join via Google Meet: https://meet.google.com/ymn-eeeb-bgn
Or dial in: +1 219-321-0544‬ PIN: 959 457 018#

A quick reminder — being a PTA member doesn’t require active participation, but your membership dues directly support important programs like field trips, enrichment activities, and community events. We encourage you to attend a meeting when you can — it’s a great way to stay informed, share your ideas, and see how your support helps our school community thrive.

Also, remember that you do not have to be a parent to join the PTA — all are welcome! Family, friends, children, and community members can all become members and help make a difference.

✨ Students who join will be treated to popcorn with the principal once during the year!

Healthy Bites Healthy Moves

'Healthy Bites Healthy Moves’ is a free 8-week curriculum series, designed to help adults make healthy lifestyle choices. Each of the 8 sessions are about an hour and a half long and are designed to teach key skills to promote their family's health and wellness. The curriculum covers the concepts of diet quality, physical activity, food safety, food security and food preparation. Families will benefit from their classes as they will be able to plan healthy family meals by staying within a budget and saving more. Participants who attend a minimum of 6 sessions graduate with a certificate and those who attend all 8 sessions get a certificate as well as a cookbook.

School Meals

  • You may use school cafe to add funds to your student's account for breakfast or lunch purchases.
  • Parents may attend lunch with their students. Please bring your ID and check in with the office prior to lunch start time.
  • To preview school menus, please visit the child nutrition website.
  • If you are delivering lunch for your student, please plan to bring it at least 15 minutes before their lunchtime. We will not accept food delivery services for students.
  • If sending a lunch for your child, remember we are a nut-free school. Students who bring items with nuts will be seated at a separate table during lunch; we recommend avoiding this as much as possible.
  • For snacks- please only send one snack, as this is a working snack time within the classroom. Ensure you send a snack that is not messy and does not need utensils. (Such as- Goldfish, pretzels, or animal crackers!😊) Nut products are not permitted during snack.
  • Breakfast doors close at 7:43 AM. Please arrive no later than 7:40 AM if your child needs to eat breakfast. Instruction begins in classes at 7:45AM.

Transportation Changes

Transportation changes will not be accepted after 2:10 pm or 10:45 on early release dates. To submit a transportation change, please call the office at (832) 223-6500 or write a note for your child to bring with them, reflecting the transportation changes. Neither email nor voicemail is an approved method of communication for transportation changes.

You may check out your child early if needed for doctor's appointments or other necessary reasons until 2:30 PM on full days or 10:05 on early release dates. Please limit this as much as possible, as we are actively instructing and learning until 3:05 PM each day. If your student repeatedly leaves early, they are potentially missing key information.
