Weekly Recap

Weekly Updates

Hello October! 🍂🎃 We’re excited to welcome a brand new month full of learning, growth, and fun! We hope your family enjoyed a restful long weekend and that your student is energized and ready to dive into all the wonderful experiences ahead.

As we enter October, we would like to remind you of the importance of daily attendance. Every day counts! Please help us by ensuring your child arrives by 7:45 AM and by limiting early pick-ups whenever possible. If your student is absent due to illness or other reasons, please remember to send a written note upon their return.

We’re thrilled to share that our student clubs are up and running. Our koalas are loving the enriching and exciting opportunities they offer! From creativity to collaboration, these clubs are helping our students shine.

Please remind your child that our Terrell staff is here to help! If your child experiences a situation where they feel another student is bothering them or notice something that they know is not the Koala Way, please encourage them to reach out immediately to any trusted staff member. Immediacy of a report helps adults address concerns and quickly support all students effectively. If you see something, say something.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Let’s make this month amazing!

October is packed with engaging events and celebrations, so be sure to review this newsletter carefully. We don’t want you to miss a moment of the fun!

Warmly,
Brittany D. Carpenter
Principal

Key School Information

School Meals

  • You may use school cafe to add funds to your student's account for breakfast or lunch purchases.
  • Parents may attend lunch with their students. Please bring your ID and check in with the office prior to lunch start time.
  • To preview school menus, please visit the child nutrition website.
  • If you are delivering lunch for your student, please plan to bring it at least 15 minutes before their lunchtime. We will not accept food delivery services for students.
  • If sending a lunch for your child, remember we are a nut-free school. Students who bring items with nuts will be seated at a separate table during lunch; we recommend avoiding this as much as possible.
  • For snacks- please only send one snack, as this is a working snack time within the classroom. Ensure you send a snack that is not messy and does not need utensils. (Such as- Goldfish, pretzels, or animal crackers!😊) Nut products are not permitted during snack.
  • Breakfast doors close at 7:43 AM. Please arrive no later than 7:40 AM if your child needs to eat breakfast. Instruction begins in classes at 7:45AM.

Arrival and Dismissal

Please review the attached arrival and dismissal guidance. If you did not receive your dismissal hangtag please come by the office to pick them up.

When picking up, if you need to assist your child with buckling, please pull up to cone 0 before stopping to ensure traffic can continue to flow around you.

We have made significant efficiency improvements, and our car dismissal is concluding earlier each day! Please make sure you are in line by 3:15 so our staff is not left waiting for parents after their contracted hours.

As a reminder- you may not enter the parking lot from 7:15-7:45 AM due to the high-traffic during this time. If you need to park, please proceed through the car-line then you may park before exiting.

Please be cognizant of our crosswalk. Currently, we have not received a painted crosswalk from the county- it is in the works! For the time being- please ensure you and your students cross at the cones. Do not cross at the corner of Nottingham Forest Rd.

We are seeking parents to volunteer in our crossing guard helper roles! Please email - Brittany.Carpenter@lcisd.org if you are able to assist in the morning from 7:15-7:45 AM.

For bus riders- please use the links below and review your student's bus route, bus stop, and use the My Stop app to track the bus live.

Transportation Changes & Early Check-Out

Transportation changes will not be accepted after 2:10 pm or 10:45 on early release dates. To submit a transportation change, please call the office at (832) 223-6500 or write a note for your child to bring with them, reflecting the transportation changes. Neither email nor voicemail is an approved method of communication for transportation changes.

You may check out your child early if needed for doctor's appointments or other necessary reasons until 2:30 PM on full days or 10:05 on early release dates. Please limit this as much as possible, as we are actively instructing and learning until 3:05 PM each day. If your student repeatedly leaves early, they are potentially missing key information.
