Weekly Recap

Week 2- We're Having Fun!
Our Koalas had a great week two! We launched innovative days, and our PK-2nd-grade students enjoyed exploring the science lab, STEM lab, library, counselor lessons, and computer lab.
Our students began their beginning-of-year assessments and are showing commitment in their efforts to give their all on these assessments.

Thank you, parents, for continuing to ensure that your students arrive at school on time, before 7:45 AM, ready to learn.
We hope to see each of you at our Spring Creek Barbecue Fundraiser Event for the PTA on August 26th from 5:00-9:00 PM.
We look forward to the time when staff can plan and analyze our students' needs based on the data we are gathering during our upcoming early release day on August 29. Please note that we release at 11:45 AM on this day.

Please review the details and information below to ensure you are informed about all the essential information you need this week.

Parent Feedback & Support
Customer Service and Parent Support/Engagement is one of our key priorities for this school year. Please feel free to request support from your student's teacher or our admin team at any time!

This week we held another successful parent input small group! Thanks to those who came and shared your insights. As a result of this meeting we commit to the following:

  • Parent conferences will occur three times a year- the first parent conference window opens Sept.15. Please look for scheduling options from your teacher's newsletters soon!
  • We will extend at least two of our club options to our 1st and 2nd grade students. More information coming soon!
  • We are holding informational sessions about how to support your students as a part of our parent information night on Sept. 3rd!

We kindly ask that you schedule appointments in advance by calling to request a time. We cannot accommodate walk-in requests as our teams are actively engaged with students and teachers throughout the school day. We will do our best to be available for meetings within 24 hours of initial requests.
Please use the link below to give additional feedback at any time!

Updated Student Code of Conduct
The revised and updated student code of conduct is now available for your review. This was presented to students at our pep-rally and assembly on Friday Aug. 15. If you would like clarification about any of these consequences or the code of conduct, you may reach out to Danielle Paul - Behavior Coordinator and Assistant Principal (danielle.paul@lcisd.org)

Parent Information Night
Parents may choose up to 4 sessions from the menu to attend from 5-7 PM. You may walk by your student's hallway on your way to your sessions to get a peek at their room.
Pizza, drinks, and snacks will be for sale in the Gym. (See prices below) You may pre-purchase or purchase the night of the event using SchoolCash.
School Cash - Pizza (Pre-Order)   Please invite grandparents to join us on Sept. 5 for lunch
Lunch Schedules
See below for lunch times by grade / teacher

Terrell Spirit Store
The spirit store is now closed. All shirts will be available for pick up at Parent Information Night on Sept. 3.

Additional spirit wear will be available for purchase from our PTA throughout the year.
  School Meals
  • You may use school cafe to add funds to your student's account for breakfast or lunch purchases.
  • Parents may attend lunch with their students, beginning Aug. 25. Please bring your ID and check in with the office prior to lunch start time.
  • To preview school menus, please visit the child nutrition website.
  • If you are delivering lunch for your student, please plan to bring it at least 15 minutes before their lunchtime. We will not accept food delivery services for students.
  • If sending a lunch for your child, remember we are a nut-free school. Students who bring items with nuts will be seated at a separate table during lunch; we recommend avoiding this as much as possible.
  • For snacks- please only send one snack, as this is a working snack time within the classroom. Ensure you send a snack that is not messy and does not need utensils. (Such as- Goldfish, pretzels, or animal crackers!😊) Nut products are not permitted during snack.

Arrival and Dismissal
Please review the attached arrival and dismissal guidance. If you did not receive your dismissal hangtag please come by the office to pick them up.

When picking up, if you need to assist your child with buckling, please pull up to cone 0 before stopping to ensure traffic can continue to flow around you.

As a reminder- you may not enter the parking lot from 7:15-7:45 AM due to the high-traffic during this time. If you need to park, please proceed through the car-line then you may park before exiting.

Please be cognizant of our crosswalk. Currently, we have not received a painted crosswalk from the county- it is in the works! For the time being- please ensure you and your students cross at the cones. Do not cross at the corner of Nottingham Forest Rd.
We are seeking parents to volunteer in our crossing guard helper roles! Please email - Brittany.Carpenter@lcisd.org if you are able to assist in the morning from 7:15-7:45 AM.

For bus riders- please use the links below and review your student's bus route, bus stop, and use the My Stop app to track the bus live.

Please give us grace as we work the first two weeks to reduce the length of times to complete arrival and dismissal. Efficiency is our goal!
Transportation Changes & Early Check-Out
Transportation changes will not be accepted after 2:10 pm or 10:45 on early release dates. To submit a transportation change, please call the office at (832) 223-6500 or write a note for your child to bring with them, reflecting the transportation changes. Neither email nor voicemail is an approved method of communication for transportation changes.

You may check out your child early if needed for doctor's appointments or other necessary reasons until 2:30 PM or 10:05 on early release dates. Please limit this as much as possible, as we are actively instructing and learning until 3:05 PM each day. If your student repeatedly leaves early, they are potentially missing key information.
